Queensland, Australia
Queensland is the second-largest state in Australia and the third most populated. The crew and cast first visited the Daintree rainforest, located north of Mossman on Queensland’s northeastern coast. It is part of the largest tropical rainforest that continues on the continent.
After filming the first challenge of the debut season, the filming team moved to Brisbane, Queensland’s capital. The filming unit set up camp at Boggo Road Gaol, Dutton Park. This prison was known for being one of Australia’s most notorious from 1883 to 1989. The team then traveled off the coast to Queensland, where they recorded a difficult segment for season 1. It was around the Great Barrier Reef. It’s the largest coral reef system in the world, with more than 2,900 reefs and 900 islands.
Ravenswood is a small town in the Charters Towers area that plays a key role in the production of the Netflix series. The Railway Hotel is a historic property on Barton Street, built in 1901.
