Born as the third child of immigrants from the first generation, Debra Scibetta grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York (like her soon-to-be husband) and was unaware that it would take her on a completely unexpected road. In all likelihood, she got married to Sammy Gravano in 1971 and happily welcomed two children, Gerard and Karen, the twins Karen and Gerard, to their lives and then lost her sole twin brother Nicholas “Little Nicky” Scibetta in the year 1978. The most shocking thing, however, is that she was unaware of her husband’s involvement in the horrific incident until the mid-90s, and that’s when they were split up.

Debra was divorced when Sammy was admitted to the US national witness protection system, which led to their split in 1996. However, despite being concerned that only Nick’s dismembered leg was discovered, she moved nine miles from her ex’s house situated in Tempe, Arizona — apparently for their children. This was the time (in the latter part of 1990) she was believed to have been associated with the clan’s criminal activities that ended with the Gravano’s, as well as more than 40 others in the arrest of federal and state-level criminal charges of drug possession in February of 2000.

As a result of her participation in the multi-million dollar ecstasy rings that operated across Arizona up to New York, Debra Scibetta admitted to operating an organization illegally in 2001 and was sentenced to probation for several years.
