But, when the shop owner turned away from the attacker, he pulled out an assault weapon and demanded Allen and the shop owner be lowered to the floor. While both men initially appeared to agree, Allen decided to take the situation into his own hands and fought the gunman.

The sudden attack caught the gunman off guard. However, he killed Allen to the chest at least once. After that, as the two men fought to control the gun, The attacker fired at the teacher in the forehead before fleeing in a flash. When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Allen bleeding on the ground. They declared his body dead. In addition, an autopsy confirmed that a shot went through his hands and then into his face, killing him right on the scene.

Where is Justin Dickens Now?

In court, Justin Dickens was convicted of capital murder and sentenced in 1995. Then, he was in prison for approximately ten years before the American Supreme Court ruled that the death penalty was cruel and astonishing to juveniles. According to the records, Justin was just seventeen when Allen Carter killed him, and thus his death sentence was finally reduced in 2005. But Justin Dickens is now being sentenced to life in the Wynne Unit in Huntsville, Texas, and is eligible to be paroled in 2034.
