The 1990s are the setting for ‘Power Book III. Raising Kanan’. This prequel to the Starz series ‘HTMO_ Power’ was originally broadcast between 2014 and 2020. After ‘Power Book II, Ghost,’ ‘Raising Kanan is the second spin-off series. It centers on Kanan Stark, a villain and antagonist in the original series. The prequel explains the circumstances that led him to this point.

As Unique enters Juliana’s shop, Raq takes her hostage and all of Raq’s money. Raq continues to expand into New Jersey. This is much to the dismay of her brothers, who insist that they should be more familiar with the local players before making such a move. Howard appears at the Thomas home as Kanan is about to leave. A terrified Kanan tells him that Howard is his father.

Kanan’s reaction is complete disbelief. It’s understandable, given the circumstances. He hopes that it is false and speaks later to his mother. She dismisses the idea and claims that Howard is delusional due to his amnesia.
Howard approaches Kanan towards the end of the episode and tells him that he still remembers Kanan shooting him. Howard assures Kanan he doesn’t want to report this to the police. Raq begins a huge hunt for Juliana and the money. Raq’s brothers speculate that Juliana ran off with the money. Iraq rejects this idea.
Lou Lou and Camacho disagree about certain professional decisions they make for the studio. Lou Lou is correct to suspect that Camacho slept in bed with Jessica. Camacho later visits Raq and suggests that they work together to get Lou Lou out of the music business and back on the streets. Raq seems to be happy with the idea. She has been very unhappy with Lou Lou’s work over the past few months.
Famous was thrown out of his mother’s House and had been looking for a place to live ever since. Kanan steals drugs from his mother’s home and then sells them at the corner. Famous can’t afford to rent a place, so the money doesn’t suffice. Camacho discovers the situation and tells Famous that he will do his best to help.
Kanan hears from Famous about Scrappy’s death. He initially doesn’t believe it. Scrappy committed suicide, according to the local legend. This sounds unbelievable to Kanan. Raq assures Kanan that everything he’s heard about Scrappy is true.

Raq’s main competitor for a long time has been Unique. Raq clarifies that Unique’s business is over by ensuring Howard’s shooting is her fault. Raq and her siblings can take full control of the area when Unique is arrested. Unique discovers South Jamaica has changed after he is released. He has no place there anymore.

Unique believes that his family’s lives are in danger. He takes desperate measures to get out of this dire situation. Raq and Unique meet at the place that used to be their headquarters. Unique holds Juliana hostage and explains his motives. Although he accepts Raq won the war, Unique wants Raq to know what he can do.
Raq demands that Raq, her crew, and his family stay away from Iraq. After careful consideration, Raq agrees to his terms. It remains to see if either side will keep its promise. Unique appears to have found a way out from his violent existence. This is rare in the dark world of ‘Power.’
