Is Francoise Glazer based on a real person?
Francoise Glazer, yes, is a real person. She was once in a relationship with Al Ruddy. She was a Holocaust survivor from Judaism, born in France to Polish parents in April 1937. Francoise had a hard childhood. Her father died in a concentration camp in 1942. When she was eight years of age, she was reunited with her mother. The two then moved to Israel, where she lived in a kibbutz (a community settlement).
Francoise was drafted into the Israeli Defense Forces. Her mother moved to North America to avoid losing her daughter. Francoise and her mother stayed in Canada and eventually moved to New York. Francoise, a businessman, married Guilford Glazer in 1956. They had a son and a girl together. Later, she said that her life consisted of servants who did the shopping and parties with flowers worth $20,000 each.

But cracks began to appear. Francoise said that she didn’t know what was wrong with her and that she didn’t like being a PTA mom. “I was ashamed to admit that I wasn’t happy.” The marriage ended in divorce in 1965. After that, she met Al and claimed she was to co-produce a movie based on Anais Nin’s novel. Al was also her husband. She traveled to India with a group of tour guides because she couldn’t bear the thought of “the thought that is dying without answers.”
Francoise visited Osho’s Ashram in Pune, India. She then continued her studies at the University of California Los Angeles. She decided to raise funds for her ashram in 1978. Francoise raised a lot of funds and eventually moved to Oregon, where Rajneeshpuram (a religious community) was established. Osho was allegedly gifted expensive items by her, including a Rolls-Royce and watches. She later received the name Ma Prem Hasya. Swami Devaraj was Osho’s personal doctor. She married Swami Devaraj.
Francoise stated that Osho gave her a sense of intensity and fullness about her time there. It was exciting and fast, but I felt bored all the time. What happened to Francoise Glazer?
Francoise traveled around the world with Osho after the compound had been demolished. It was reported that she sought out at least 21 countries to establish a community like the one in Oregon. Francoise eventually returned to India with Osho. She returned to the United States after her husband died in 1990.
She opened an Arizona spiritual center and held meditation sessions at her Los Angeles home. Francoise was diagnosed seven years prior to her death with Parkinson’s disease. She died in her home on August 19, 2014, at the age of 77.
