Who doesn’t love a good heist? You can only access the vast majority of the world through film if you steal something extremely valuable, such as diamonds, casino vault contents, or gold.
You will likely be sent to jail if you go out with your friends and rob a bank or knock over the casino of a sleazy guy who is dating your ex. You can still enjoy a heist movie and feel safe, but you won’t have to do anything illegal.

Vietnam War left a whole generation of veterans and their families with scarring, often leading to new wounds. This gem from the mid-90s follows one Vietnam veteran who returns home to the Bronx and decides that he has no other option but to team up with his friends to rob an armored vehicle.
The spoiler alert: Things don’t go according to plan! The movie’s core is about the armored car heist. But the heart of the movie lies in the tragedy and potential lost. And what it means for America to not serve you.

Den of Thieves (2018)
One thing you have probably heard about this bank robbery comedy is that it steals from Michael Mann’s crime saga, Heat, which can be found below. Over the film’s 140-minute run time, the basic plot elements are identical. There is a group of highly-efficient criminals headed by a former Marine (Pabro Scheiber), and they must deal with an obsessive cop (Gerard Butler).
Den of Thieves is strangely captivating because it feels almost like a bootleg shirt you would buy for a band outside of the venue. It’s all garish and not concerned with good taste. Christian Gudegast, a screenwriter who is directing a feature for his first time, is not as talented as Mann. Butler, with unflattering tattoos, and a barrel-shaped gut, is certainly not Al Pacino. Everyone tries to get every drop of Muscle Milk out of the bottle. The hustle might be something you can respect.

Dog Day Afternoon (1975)
Dog Day Evening is a movie that pulses with the energy and excitement of a city at the edge of collapse. Sidney Lumet’s true-life New York bank robbery story captures more than the tension between Al Pacino and Sonny, the stressed-out actor, and the put-upon citizens trapped in the bank. It captures the drama of the people at the heart of the story, as well as the uproar in the community and the response by law enforcement. This movie is the basis for almost all bank robbery movies since.

It’s simple. Imagine a story where a bank vault was stolen, and Brian’s cars pulled it along with cables and then tossed it about the streets of Brazil like a vengeful Rubik’s Cube. What if The Rock was wearing a small Under Armour shirt and carrying a large gun?
These questions can be answered by a certain kind of idiot: “Inject that shit into my veins now!” The series moved into the heist-caper territory and was made available to larger stars. Chris Morgan, the Fast series author, and director Justin Lin took the opportunity to create their masterpiece here. It’s an explosive Hot Wheels play-set that combines juvenile comedy, lunkheaded drama, and eyebrow-singing action.

A Fish Called Wanda was written by John Cleese (Monty Python alum) and is a kind of absurd, high-concept comedy that just can’t be made anymore. Warning: This film is not for those who have problems with fake animal deaths.

AHHHHHHHHHH, NIC CAGE HAS TO STEAL 50 INSANELY VALUED CARS IN 72 HOURS! He can do it! The plot isn’t the main point of this action movie. But a great cast (Angelina Jolie, Giovanni Ribisi, and Robert Duvall), VINNIE JONES — and, of course, the ridiculous stunt work elevate cliches into classic status. This movie is about a former car thief who has resigned to save his brother. He assembles the best possible team to make it all happen. Enjoy; just turn off your brain.

Michael Mann’s three-hour action thriller is about cops and criminals. But it’s about Al Pacino’s personal and professional lives and Robert De Niro’s relationship in the same room. At the beginning of the final scene, Pacino’s Lieutenant Vincent Hanna and De Niro’s Neil McCauley meet at Kate Mantilini in Los Angeles, creating a symbiotic relationship that can lead to an epic showdown. In the final foot chase shootout, the duality of human instincts becomes evident as they outrun each other literally. The heat does not look good. It is Biblically Amazing.

Hell or High Water is known for its car chases and shootouts, but Mackenzie discovers a heartbeat in diner conversations and small talk with pickup trucks. Economic depression is the greatest equalizer. This material transforms villains into heroes, villains into heroes, and simple characters into some of the best performances by actors to date.

It appears there was no heist, and Jodie Foster is a curious party with unclear motives. Before you can find the truth, it will take several attempts to unravel what is going on.

The Italian Job (2003/04/01)
This film may be the only one in which A-listers are outshone by an itty bitty car. Once you reach The Italian Jobs’ spectacular MINI Cooper car chase, you will forget about Mark Wahlberg or Charlize Theron. F. Gary Gray’s stylish, fast-paced remake of the 1969 Michael Caine-starring heist flick is not faithful. This time, Donald Sutherland leads the ragtag robber team. The all-star cast includes Seth Green, Yasiin Bety (formerly Mos Def), Jason Statham, and Edward Norton. However, one of those criminal partners turns out to be a double-crosser. The Italian Jobs is predictable, but it has plenty of flashes.

Jackie Brown (1997)
The best Quentin Tarantino movies are love stories, despite all the blood, mayhem, and guts. Jackie Brown is a clever blaxploitation riff that also pays tribute to QT’s literary great, Elmore Leonard. It follows Pam Grier as her flight attendant title character and a weary bondsman played by Robert Forster with a knowing twinkle. They plot a complicated scheme to steal half a million. They slowly fall in love, despite being outsmarted by a barrage of wise men, con men, and dumbasses. Jackie Brown is Tarantino’s most human movie. Jackie Brown is undoubtedly Tarantino’s most human movie, an empathetic portrait of an artist often unfairly labeled a sadist. There isn’t a better movie than with a better ending.

Logan Lucky (2017)
Steven Soderbergh is the genius behind Ocean’s franchise. He has Danny Ocean’s keen eye for operation and attention to detail (no one can shoot mundane insert shots like him). Logan Lucky is a heist movie. It features a bluesy, Southern-fried bank job that has pickups doing the heavy lifting, gummy bears, and cleaning solutions making the vaults boom. Blue collars are proudly worn. Nobody believes Jimmy and Clyde Logan (Channing Takum and Adam Driver), who are well-known in West Virginia for their “curse” of bad luck, could rob the Coca-Cola 600 races. It’s pure fun to see how they deal with the naysayers.

Masterminds (2016)
This long-delayed farce about heists from Jared Hess ( Napoleon Dynamite ) finally came out… but critics weren’t impressed. Masterminds, a film starring Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig, is a must-see. It’s filled with surreality and so-dumb it’s-fun humor that offsets the sad tale of David Ghantt (an idiot bank supervisor). This is how it works: You come for the robbery but stay for the crazy turns, such as these insane engagement photos.

Ocean’s Eleven 2001
Steven Soderbergh ( Logan Lucky and Traffic) polished every inch of this 1960 Rat Pack remake. Brad Pitt, Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts are stars who surpass the charisma singularity to execute the greatest film caper ever. This feat combines acrobatics and EMPs with Danny Ocean’s punchable visage before they walk away with millions of dollars. Although Sequels took some unexpected turns (Ocean’s Twelve) and made some derivative mistakes, this movie starter is still the best heist movie. As an added bonus, you can still watch the sequels on Netflix.

The Old Man & the Gun (2017)
This loving tribute to 1970s cinema is between true crime and a fan letter. It transforms a real-life tale of bank robberies, prison escapes, and other crimes, which was written in The New Yorker and edited by David Grann into a clever showcase for Robert Redford, its star. Forrest Tucker is a geriatric felon. He plays the role of a former Sundance Kid and flirts with bank tellers while building a relationship and a friendship with Jewel (SissySpacek). Director David Lowery captures the film in a nostalgic, grainy style that doesn’t seem too precious. You want to be there with the movie, even though it seems like it will fade away.

Reservoir Dogs (1992)
Quentin Tarantino is talking, but mostly it’s bullshit. It comes from the mouths of a bunch of knuckleheads that just did the most spectacular diamond heist of their lives. Tarantino, unencumbered by Hollywood’s rules, deconstructs masculinity via monologue, standoffs, and literal removal of body parts (the now-legendary scene with the ear). Tarantino does have one ear. The “tipping” scene is a classic example of Tarantino’s crude, poetic, and theatrical approach to masculinity.

Three Kings (1999)
George Clooney was able to lead his friends into a casino and rob it blind before he went to war. David O. Russell’s hilarious direction captures post-war Iraq’s lawless deserts. Major Archie Gates, played by Mark Wahlberg and Ice Cube, enlists the help of three soldiers (Spike Jonze, Spike Jonze, and Spike Jonze) to find gold allegedly stolen from Kuwait. The plan doesn’t go as planned, as in many heist movies. This is due to the fact that there are a lot of Iraqi soldiers and rebels who have competing interests. It’s the action-packed companion piece for Jarhead boredom causes strange behavior when soldiers drop into foreign deserts.

The Town (2010)
Ben Affleck won an Oscar for Argo. But before that, he was a crime-movie star. This pulsating adaptation of Chuck Hogan’s novel Prince of Thieves is a Boston-set tale that leads to a Fenway Park robbery. Although the idea might seem a bit extreme, the execution is flawless. It combines flash and grit with scenes that alternate between bullet-strewn action and working-class drama. Affleck is a ruthless, ex-hockey-player thief who works with his hot-head friend (Jeremy Renner). However, the group is pursued by Jon Hamm, an FBI agent who tracks them throughout the city. This Heat tribute is a great one.

Widows (2017)
Widows show how theft is a force in Chicago’s moral universe. Innocent lives are destroyed by gunfire, public resources are diverted through criminal means, land rites are broken down, and business deals are made. And, of course, there’s the plot of a well-planned heist. The story of Veronica Rawlings, a former teacher union rep, who forms a makeshift gang after her master thief husband, Liam Neeson, is a delight to follow. McQueen’s script, which McQueen adapted into an ’80s British TV series with novelist Gillian Flynn, is filled with pulpy flourishes, a surprising plot twist, and witty wit. This sprawling, tough-minded crime drama is a refreshing addition to an era of highly-acclaimed TV series.
